Walking in the warmth of the sun, I can faintly hear a sound getting nearer and nearer. Soon appears a little bird clothed in red. For such a small thing, it sure knows how to get my attention.
I wish The Lord would let me understand the language he speaks and why on earth he tends to make so much commotion when I’m deep in thought.
As he darts beside me, hope rises and I can tell the Lord is in a delightful mood. For He has been listening to my heart as it groans, and what seemed like silence to me was rather loud to Him.
Back and forth the playful creature comes and goes, and it appears Jesus is doing His best with His creation to get a grin from a downcast soul. The length He goes is never-ending to let us know He is near, but some have given way to happenstance and coincidence, and thus their child-like faith has disappeared.
Super sad.
The Lord is awesome and mighty. Powerful yet playful. Most of all, kind and good. Perfect and just. Holy and righteous.
But that same God is a Father to His children and gives it a good go for one needing a little lift of her head.
When the world comes down on you, and you feel like hiding…listen for the sound of the red bird. He can often be found doing Father’s bidding by singing you a little song, or at the very least distracting your ailing mind from despair back to delight.
Trust me.
It works every time…
