Though pain and sorrow come near, the skylark remains a most cheerful songbird.
In circular motions the little lark ascends towards Heaven and is one of the rare birds that sings while it flies.
You would never know the lark’s pained defeats and disappointments because God built in his frame a cheerful melody that never tires. The joy of the Lord must somehow also be his strength.
The whimsical way of the songbird wakes before dawn welcoming each new day with faithful melodies.
The little lark is made for the ground as well as the sky. It seems God had a good intent to keep His songbird able to navigate versatile terrain. No matter the storms or winds, there is a merriment always on the tongue of the skylark.
What is beautiful to me, because I know all creation testifies, is two specific details I want to share with you.
The skylark is drawn to the color red and he has a cloven tongue.
One must marvel at the pointing finger of the lark’s traits reminding us of the very cloven tongues mentioned in the outpouring of the Spirit in the Upper Room and the ever powerful crimson red colored blood of our Savior.
Indeed the little lark is loved by Heaven and his heart is set on songs.
His nest is barely made full of common materials revealing no real palace for his head and teaches us that he is more focused on Heaven’s songs than earthly pleasures.
I wonder might we take notice of the little bird who sings merrily year around come sunshine or rain. The winter season doesn’t frighten the skylark either. He still makes his way upward singing as he goes.
No matter the circumstance you’ll find the songbird flying in a beautiful upward motion circling a cylinder-like staircase to Heaven’s stage whereby his song never ceases, even while in flight.
