The Lord had a season with me where He spoke to me very much through creation. He still does but in this season I went and delivered a message at a women’s addiction recovery home with an arsenal of poems all about birds. Each He had given me and they all came together for this one sweet group of faces. The message was called, A Bird’s Eye View.
Today, I want to share with you one of those…in case you are one of His sparrows. If you are, you will likely find the sting of tears come. Let me assure you that He is letting you know He sees you.
A sparrow was nestling in her comfort
Awakened to a startling sound
As she lifted her head to see below her
A dark storm had circled around.
The winds and the rain rocked her homeland
The twigs began to loose one by one
Then the home she had known for some time now
Had fallen with wind’s just too strong.
Wedged far below her tree of safety
It’s limbs now we’re broken in two
Returning was no more an option
Her eyes blurred with tears fighting swoons.
The ground which she laid seemed so foreign
Her wings seemed broken and pained
For months turned to years she’d forgotten
How to sing the simplest refrain.
Hoarse and bruised from the great fall
Her heart seemed to stifle her song
Her passion and desire left up high now
Resting in a home now long gone.
Yet, one day her eyes opened startled
The panic of old memories again struck
But it was just another tiny sparrow
Offering a hand to lift her up.
Her heart barely trusted to reach out
For a wall in her heart now protected her
But the sparrow was so loving and so tender
Day after day she built trust.
A new little bed this new friend built her
Deep in the woods far far from home
The tiny sparrow even found her a pillow
Softer than any other she’d ever known.
For some time every day she would feed her
Until she would regain her own strength
She’d walk and listen to her heartache
Until darkness forced them to go to sleep.
When sickness from home sick would linger
Tiny sparrow would give a tight hug
And promised that soon it’d get better
Then sing her to sleep with great love.
One day a many months now later
She asked sweet sparrow why all this she did
And she stated “Our Father has sent me
To remind you the promise He said.”
Those songs in your heart where He blessed you
Has healing for others now in need
He breathed His very breath upon you
While forming your hands and your feet.
Your silence it deafens all of Heaven
For they too know what you must do
And they have been waiting your restoration
While thru sorrow Father poured love into you.
So now it is time..you must arise now.
Sing ..sing…you must sing
The songs He placed deep inside you
Were given to set captives free.
