A conduit is something that is used for something else to flow through in order to get to a said destination.
For example: “water flowed along the conduit to the fountain” (Webster’s)
God has people in place that serve as conduits you know. Maybe even you?
Often we misunderstand happenings around us if we are indeed a God-made conduit. Our hearts can even get wounded in the process.
When we do not understand this concept we may feel often used and abused by others. I’m afraid it is quite common that we can be used and abused by others. In those cases, we need to set healthy boundaries because this does not honor God.
However, it is also possible Christ is using us to put a thing in place for His Kingdom.
I heard a minister say once, “Sometimes it’s painful when God uses you.”
I find this to be so true. It’s hard to watch others spin-off of your hard work a new thing without acknowledging your role in the matter. It can be very discouraging.
In the body of Christ, we often start something new instead of supporting what God has already begun. Henry Blackaby says, “Find out where God is at work and join Him there.”
However, I do not believe this is always the case. I have learned to be sure and ask God if I need to begin a new thing truly or simply support what He is already doing through someone else. One may require a real surrender of pride.
But if you are a conduit by God’s hand, it’s entirely possible your life’s work will entail the birthing out of others even when you do not realize you are doing it. It’s the midwife’s role of Kingdom babies.
What you do is meant to encourage and inspire. To ignite and to cause a pushing urge in others so they see that they, too, can do the impossible.
So if this is the case, I’ve learned to try to understand the heart of God in it. Because honestly, it can hurt if you feel you, yourself, weren’t supported and you needed it desperately. Sometimes, even that baby birthed through your efforts becomes bigger than your own. Talk about swallowing pride? You must. It’s a death to self once again. We must have a Kingdom mindset at all times and in all things.
I found it interesting that the word “fountain” is in the dictionary list when you look up the meaning of “conduit.” How purposed is that? Fountains ought to flow from our lives onto others around us. We ought to multiply the Kingdom by Christ in us. We are to be like a fountain of living waters. Yes?
So the next time you might get offended or saddened by something that looks a little like this, ask God is you’re just serving as His called “conduit?”
And if He answers, “YES!”
Rejoice in it:)
