The Broken and Bruised Reeds

The Broken and Bruised Reeds

The Broken and Bruised Reeds

…a bruised reed he will not break, and a faintly burning wick he will not quench; he will faithfully bring forth justice.

(Isaiah 42:3)

What is it that your heart does need

Perhaps some love or yet some peace

For Christ, He sees the broken reeds

And tends to every bruise that bleeds.

If there is loss that fills your soul

A seeping wound or heart that’s cold

A hiding child whose not been healed

Or one addicted to many pills.

A power is yours to help you through

A hand that’s reaching out to you

His heart is breaking at your pain

And promises honor for shame.

A whisper calls you onward still

Watch and wait by your windowsill

For all your strength in Him can be

Trusted in the raging seas.

The days you feel that you might sink

In despair and can barely think

He gives His mind to you today

To help you navigate the waves.

Pain it is a road somewhere

Perhaps a road you’d never dare

But Christ has seen a heart you see

That He created for coming things.

So, take a breath. Breathe it out.

Rest under the Spirit’s spout

For nothing is unseen by Him

And He will send a gentle wind.

A wind that embraces every tear

Combs your hair and calms your fears

Christ, He is your hope my dear

Promising you that He is near.
