When Shelly Wilson came to visit us at Jacob’s Well I was still in the program and hadn’t been there very long. She came to speak about the little girl inside of all of us, me being 20 years old, it touched me because I’ve let myself grow up so fast that I never had the chance to be a little girl. Hearing her speak about being a warrior and that God is your father that you can crawl into his lap at any time and forget the world, stuck with me. At the beginning of my walk, I couldn’t think of my relationship with our heavenly father as a father- daughter relationship because my own relationship with my father was rocky, but hearing the way she described it and how much it had changed her life, it made me want the same. I am so thankful for this woman of God and her amazing words she brings every time she comes to see us. She helps us realize that just because we’ve been through things that no one else has, we’re not alone. God is always there for us, and her relationship with God is unlike any other. She is truly a brave and beautifully spirited woman. Seeing her brings me so much joy because I know that she is a bright light in the kingdom, and it makes me want to be the same.
