Many times we fail to see that which hinders us. When I heard the Lord say “take off the shroud,” my mind immediately went to that which blinds us. So often we never even know when truth is hidden and deception has a hold. Only when we are willing to see the truth no matter the cost..will freedom come. Very recently the Lord pricked my heart on an issue. He let me see a problem in another’s life..but I didn’t want to know about it honestly because I knew He would require me to lovingly address it. Sometimes no matter how much love and gentleness you have, it’s hard for people to part with idols and questionable practices. They become truly a cherished thing. I had to face this in my own situation knowing that the Lord wanted to set someone free…and I had to be willing to have the conversation…no matter the outcome. For it is our charge to lovingly steer others towards holiness and a set apart life. Not set apart in a way that no longer impacts the world…but in a way that causes a lost world to desire WHO we have and how He made us free.
It is the same with our theology and beliefs. We likely are not quite teachable as we would like to think we are. We have become a people not very willing to reason the scriptures as Paul spoke of. However, I want to know when and if there is potential of me being deceived. We can be clothed in a shroud…that really is death attire. We also seem to have a pendulum that swings way too far in either direction. It keeps us from freedom in Christ. It’s likened to the many cages with no bars that we find ourselves in. Many times these hindrances stifle that which we are ordained by the Lord to accomplish here on earth. We certainly need our brothers and sisters to be watchman on the wall on our behalf that we may walk in the light and fullness of the gospel of Christ..leaving darkness never a place to hide. Satan has been working for generations to put to death that which Christ wove into us for His glory….yet, it is time to be willing to let Him take off the shroud.
Take Off the Shroud
There’s darkness lurking still
It has hidden and concealed
Thy gifts ordained for thee
Thy inheritance from The King!
For Satan has fooled the lot
Preparing a wicked plot
And covered a mind with thoughts
To replace His authentic heart.
The lies were rooted deep
In sleepy and lukewarm sheep
Buried from thine own view
Was a shroud that covered truth.
A tomb was prepared long ago
For a Church of silence and woe
But Christ for His love will come low
And contend with His wicked foe.
For deep underground it may be
But the Master does resurrect things
His Spirit will now come arrest
The chaos and worldly unrest.
His light it will pierce through the blind
And cause many to be refined
He’ll come in His power and might
Consuming the dross with His light.
