I wait upon the shore until the sea pushed forward the waves and I walk towards the swell. With each step my feet got more soaked and I could not resist the inner yearning.
I hear the call of my Savior beckoning me to come, “Ride the wave.”
You would think I’d be terrified but a joy rises in my heart to go deeper with Him and He again says, “Come, ride the wave.”
It’s fascinating to watch this scene with Christ as it’s as if He places me by His very hand atop the crest of the wave and I see the land now to which was hidden to me just moments before.
The wave is full of His power and lifts me to heights far greater than before and I could see the destination I had been trying to reach for so long.
I look down at the wave briefly but it was a firm footstool to which I had no reason to fear. It was firm. I was safe.
His delight seemed as large as mine and I suddenly realized the treasure in His Word, “I will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4)
I realized I couldn’t have reached the land I had been longing for without the great wave.
Moments came where I found myself hidden inside the wave as it breached the great sea. Although it was dark, I realized it was His covering for me. It was His safety net. I need not fear.
He washed me with the water of His Word as I rested in His embrace. Great refreshing settled upon me and I realized how dry a soul can be without even knowing it. I was very thirsty for more of Him.
The wave was intentionally carrying me. I saw rocks and many dangers between me and the land, yet the wave seemed to swallow up these obstacles and suddenly I landed firmly upon shallow ground…a mere footstep from the shore.
I vividly gazed at the sunset. It was stunning. It appeared to give a glowing grin as it watched its Creator move in might and power. Its light shimmered upon the sea and danced a beautiful reflection.
The mighty rushing waters echoed the voice of the Almighty as I looked one last time over my shoulder.
My eyes witnessed the “being still” of the waves and I could feel His gentle nudge push me upon the beach.
And the promise again I heard in my heart from His…..
“For the land, into which you are entering to possess it, is not like the land of Egypt from which you came, where you used to sow your seed and water it with your foot like a vegetable garden.
“But the land into which you are about to cross to possess it, a land of hills and valleys, drinks water from the rain of heaven, a land for which the LORD your God cares; the eyes of the LORD your God are always on it, from the beginning even to the end of the year.… (Deuteronomy 11:11)
