I received a call from a Church to please come speak to the girls in their youth group. There was much concern regarding their hearts and I felt like it was the Lord that I was to go. As I prayed I felt the message was not really what I had planned or even was asked to initially share based on the concerns. Actually, the Lord seemed to say to me…no sermons, no messages, no notes..no plans. So I spent time reading the Word and waited in prayer. I felt the instructions were the same and felt I would simply share my own testimony and life with Christ. I felt like the Lord was nudging me to simply be a spiritual mother to them.
After some time of sharing, the Lord led me to share an encounter I had with a women possessed by a demon. It was an encounter that was pretty unnerving and although I did not want to frighten the girls, I did want to give them the honest truth. Soon, their hands flew up and many questions arose. After hearing story after story I was overwhelmed at the manifestations of demonic activity manifesting to the girls. Several were afraid of these encounters. When I asked how many in the room were experiencing such things, the majority raised their hands. This taught me the need of understanding the power of Christ and His Word. With Him…you have power over all principalities…without Him we have nothing. The enemy is on a mission for our youth and we, the churches, must begin to teach them practical things to stay away from. As I began to take them through Ephesians 6 and instructed them to memorize Psalm 91 I shared with them a season of illness when I also experience demonic attacks very similar to some of their own. It was during this time the Lord taught me the power of His Word and I need not fear darkness. I also began to talk to them about symbols, television shows, items that I have found in many homes that have a root of witchcraft. Many testified to having these items in their rooms. Several were engaging in shows that were demonic in nature, while others also were encountering witchcraft but simply did not know. We talked about the necessity of their Bibles and how they must learn to use it. I was pleased at their readiness to learn and we ran quite over our allotted time.
The girls were so hungry and I’ve promised to return and continue helping them learn more on this topic. They were excited to go home and begin to use their swords against the darkness. Their sweet eyes lit up as I shared and I trust the Lord will continue to work in their hearts until I return. I left behind books for each girl to take home and draw near to Christ. My prayer is that they will be arrested by His love for them as they read. “The Little Girl Jesus Loves.”
The youth today are going through way more than we know. We need to prepare to dive into things such as witchcraft. It is more than at the door…it is in the house. That includes the church house. I hope to hear this week from their youth leader how they managed their week and if they completed their assignments to clear out their rooms of all darkness and any “source of power” that is not the Holy Spirit.
This really built my own faith as I was able to trust the Lord to lay down my plans and let Him unfold the need. I am so grateful for His kindness to me and I find my faith increasing each time He allows me to participate in His work.
Be encouraged! The Lord will lead us and we can trust Him! Man makes plans but God orders steps!
Love Much,
