Christ had many opportunities to humiliate those in sin..yet never did He take it. From the woman at the well to the one caught in adultery. Instead, we see He always responded with mercy. His heart was always to draw them to Himself. The only ones He seemed to scoff at were the religious leaders who knew the letter of the law…..yet completely missed the heart of the God of the Word. We must be a people like Christ in order to reach people for Christ. It is easy to love when people are seemingly successful and living in a way that is Godly. However, the true test of our love is how we respond to those who fall. This is one of the greatest errors of the body of Christ. We read about the love of Christ and even profess it..yet when given an opportunity to show it….we become as the religious leaders of Jesus’ day.
When others fall we are lovingly and mercifully to bring them back to the way of truth. Every life is precious to Christ…
A woman was caught in lust and of sin
When drug thru the dirt by angry men
Then gentle and quiet the Christ stooped low
Drawing in dirt a merciful note.
Peter too now afraid and unwise
Cursed from the tongue and even denied
Yet mercy and grace prepared Him to rise
From the sifting of Satan..yet used still of Christ.
Isn’t it beautiful that in our disgrace
Our Father is very quick to embrace
So we shall in turn be just like Him
Remembering mercy when others do sin.
