Not too long ago a friend had received a burden for my safety. Needless to say, it’s been an interesting season. I did not think much of it at the time until something caused me to send a message for prayer a few days later. She had come by my house to check on me and my car was home..so she left a note on my car. I was on the phone so never heard anyone ring my doorbell or knock….nor did I see any text messages of concern…until I heard someone beating on my back door. When I looked up my friend was frantically knocking and I knew in that moment she was more than concerned. As I opened the door she was almost crying as I hugged her and said “I’m Sorry, I’m Sorry…”
I had scared her to death and she couldn’t get out of town before making sure I was alright. For days this melted my heart more and more. The Lord began showing me such goodness in this moment. A moment He knew I needed to see. I hope I am this kind of friend to others. When the road gets tough it’s nice to know someone is looking out for you and will barrel into your back yard and beat down your door if they have to:)
I Want To Be…
I want to be a friend that’s not just a friend
Not for what I can get but for what I can give.
Cherished for love and who I just am
Accepted as precious like does my Great I Am.
I long to do more than simply to take
But be like a friend whose courageous and brave
Who fights for the weary, the wounded, and weak
The very kind of friend who stands with one in need.
Thoughtful and respectful, a warrior in prayer
The one that shows up when desperation is there
A friend who does loveth in word and in deed
A friend who is present when death clips one’s wings.
I see I must mirror the best friend of all
Who runs to the broken and rescues the lost
Who weeps with the weeping and holds a dear hand
Who wipes a sad tear that drops in the sand.
Sometimes it’s as simple for the faintest of heart
To offer a note, a movie, a talk.
To ring a sweet doorbell unexpectedly
Just to check dearly on a sweet friend in need.

John 15:13
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
