I spent countless years waiting for the weekend wasting days that could have been used for the Kingdom of God. It is telling when the Lord says in His word when He comes like a thief many will be going about daily celebrations, weddings, etc. Yet, we live a lukewarm life daily. Is your life with Christ simply a Sunday thing? A day we go to church, hear a sermon, fellowship with God’s people…yet every other day has really nothing at all to do with Christ Jesus? Does He direct your days? Do you give when He asks you to give…the money which He has given you? Do you tend to God’s people daily as He sends them? Is your time spent working and doing entertaining things? Obviously, those things are not bad in and of themselves….The best way to check for lukewarmness is to evaluate your days… how have you spent them? Do you commune with the Holy Spirit? Reading His Word and talking with Him? Then do you take on the assignments He gives you daily? If not…we may be lukewarm. We give much time for sporting activities, vacations, shopping, etc…but how much is given to the work of God? The world seems to believe these who do are extreme or “over the top” ….maybe just maybe it is how it should be…and your heart is simply lukewarm towards God and the things of God. Maybe for some reason His compassion doesn’t move you to act? He is clear in His word that He despises lukewarmness and will spew it out of His mouth. Careful to not squander your time, your finances, your days on things not exalting the Lord…for when He comes, we will account for it my friends… He loves us dearly…but He is Lord..Pray and fast…seek the Lord and His heart daily…and obey all He says to the best of your abilities. This He will honor. He has a job for you to do…don’t let the enemy steal your inheritance because you got sidetracked with this world. Be fully engaged with a God who is fully engaged with us.
It is the cry of a tender Lord
To unleash in us His sword
Yet casual we do tend to be
When fully engaged is the King.
Racing around in the days
Nights are filled with more play
But these times do not call for bits
But fully engaged Saints of His.
Work work work has replaced
Prayer that’s fervently prayed
Fasting is now lacking too
The enemy is coming real soon.
Shallow our hearts disregard
The readiness that now must be shod
For when grand rebellion does pursue
Many will die way too soon.
If thou could see in a glance
The horses that ready their prance
Fully Engaged you would be
No more of this lukewarm living.
