We need fresh eyes. Eyes untainted by a world in sin. Eyes that see pain first, sin second. Eyes that fill with tears over the brokenness of humanity.
Eyes that see little girls hidden in big girls who have been wounded their entire lives. Eyes that see deep into the heart at what Christ has placed in them.
Dull eyes we have with little desire to see differently. A church offered paths to the lost and hurting yet traveling most often the path to the high and lofty.
Redemption is not confined to those that look and live like us. Redemption’s net is cast far and wide to capture the big fish and the little fish. The unknown and the known.
We need fresh eyes.
Eyes that do not hold titles more fond than hearts. Eyes that close at the altar in prayer over the destitute. Eyes that are open to the needs around us rather than the needs within us.
Fresh eyes.
Eyes that refuse to gaze upon anything that pollute the pathway to our hearts. Eyes willing to destroy all evidence of corruption that seeps slowly into our lives.
Fresh Eyes…
Can you see the loss of sparkle in another’s eyes? Do you even notice? Do you see death residing in some? Blind to the hope of glory depending upon your ability to see with fresh eyes.
Has the Lord enlightened the eyes of your heart through His Word and presence in prayer?
Can you see what He sees as He looks upon His footstool?
Can you grieve what He sees with the eyes you’ve been given?
Or do you also need fresh eyes…
His eyes…
