I received a message yesterday from a sweet little sister struggling. Her season consists of school, raising a son as a single parent, working full-time, etc. She was simply asking for prayer to maneuver this season of her life. There are many in similar seasons. This reminded me of a scripture I cling to when I forget the mission Christ has given me..
The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned. Isaiah 50:4
My deepest heart longing is to know the mind and heart of Christ for each heart I minister to. This is also the heart of Jesus as well. That we would walk in the spiritual gifts to have supernatural help with loving on others in need. There are times when our “normal” ways will not meet the need uniquely. Jesus offers knowledge and wisdom into a precious soul that they will see He surely is watching over them and willing to speak to them….
In this hour, many are in despair…we need His word for them. Not our word…but His word. You see His word unlocks the heart to His. His word melts the hardness and allows for healing and reconciliation. We can often miss the need of a specific word for a human heart because we are not listening to the Holy Spirit’s leading. I may can draw from many scriptures to encourage a heart in pain but only Christ knows the exact route to get to it. I have seen His beautiful hand close my mouth as I sat in front of a pained heart to simply tell me “just listen for my open door” because He knew that most precious heart would be more wounded if I chose unwisely to wield anything that came across as self-righteous, prideful, or making them feel unworthy. We can easily crush an already wounded heart by not yielding to the Holy Spirit and waiting for His “word in season to him that is weary.”
I have come to understand better why His word says, “your gentleness has made me great.” (2 Sam 22:36) There are times when we must come as gently as the Savior did and does to build trust in one’s heart and to lovingly lift up a weary soul.
May we return to the ways of Jesus and ask Him to make us truly one with Him. May we be vessels He can use to deliver a healing word, a refreshing word, a delivering word, or a saving word to the weary souls of today. We were meant to do nothing less..
Love Much,
