We sat in Louisiana having a great time of fellowship when a woman photo bombed our selfie. She had joined our table and was quite chatty and I noticed there was a slur to her words. She was friendly and hung out a moment. She simply lingered.
This is always the moment when I realize the Lord is at work. She got up to head outside and I just had to follow her. Sometimes divine appointments are quite intrusive. Yet, our time is not our own.
I called her over and wanted to give her a Resurrection album. I pointed to the song Hush Little Baby because it was a song of healing for my own heart when I wrote it.
She wanted to hear it immediately. So I invited her into my car for a listen. I played the music video and shared about the girls in the Refuge Safe Home. She suddenly seemed sober.
She explained she needed to go to her car for some more vodka and I asked her why she was self medicating. She shared her father had been an alcoholic and now she was. I shared with her the love of Christ for her and how I use to drink also. Again, she suddenly got sober and sadness filled her eyes. I explained how The Lord took away my desire for alcohol and even cigarettes but that He met me right where I was.
I asked her why her heart was hurting so deeply. She shared with me many pains and I told her she was cherished by Christ.
The voice of the vodka kept calling her name and she suddenly leapt out of my car. I gave her one of my books and both CD’s and then went back inside to join the girls again.
I am mindful that Christ leaves the 99 for the 1…and I am grateful that I can trust Jesus is pursuing her broken heart even though she wasn’t ready in that moment to hear Him fully.
He is lovely….and His deep love for humanity makes me weep❤️
Pay attention friends, don’t miss an opportunity that He is placing right in front of you.
