We have become a church enamored by celebrity, lost in tradition, and led by oppressive teachings. All tagged with the name of Jesus.
We shake our heads at the exposed sexual abuse now coming out- all the while maintaining a strong hold to demeaning views and teachings regarding women. Is it any wonder why we are where we are?
We speak against the treatment of women in Islam and other countries while we miss the log in our own eye. Do a quick study on other religions and countries and you will quickly realize we follow suit but wrap it in a way that seems biblical and right. We have yet to understand the full work of the cross of Christ. Instead, we still separate on one side of the sanctuary men and on the other side the women. We are the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Repent.
We point fingers at the drop of a hat and believe every video we find completely forgetting the ability to alter such things today. We have become “called experts” combing over every word another teacher speaks looking for any opportunity to discount them. We don’t know them. We’ve not met them. We’ve never even heard them in person. Does Christ not warn us of slander? I am learning if I do not witness it with my own eyes and ears, use caution. The world is wicked and many go to great lengths to wound another’s reputation. Remember the wheat and the tares? We are now throwing out the baby with the bath water.
Repent.
We feel now entitled to share our voice even if it murders a people. After all, we are to expose false teachers. Yes. Perhaps. But what if one day He shows you that you are among them in some of your own beliefs? What if you are found in error? What if you have pounded the gavel in the name of Jesus only to find He wasn’t in it at all…. actually, He opposes it? Would you like His mercy? Do you also believe His Word that says He will give mercy to those who give it? (James 2:13)
Then Repent.
We preach a message of redemption without offering it in the least bit to the very ones in need of it. We are lofty and arrogant and Christ is moving His hand upon His church now. I dare to say we are nothing short of bickering over the healing on the Sabbath to which we should go re-read Christ’s response.
We have crossed a line now. One which He will contend with. Turn your newspaper pages and soon you may be shocked at the faces you see. Perhaps you will even see your own face, your own church, or your own leadership. The heavens will resound with cries for mercy.
While we debate issues of “who can be and do what” many are lost to Hell. Tell me if one sin will outweigh another when we sit in light of His glory, my friends.
What is our job? To bite and devour one another? To lord authority over one another? To keep others from sharing Christ over technical debates? Paul says this is “not to be so among you.”
To the church that has accused or ostracized the victims of abuse while standing with abusers… may Christ have mercy on you should you refuse to right the wrong. I sit in a room full of these women on a regular basis and I am waiting to see if Christ really does live within you. Please show me He does, and repent…
To the church that spends more time on a woman’s responsibility to submit (at all cost) please remember the requirement of repentance and know the marriage covenant requires a man to love His wife as Christ loved the church. You are enabling abuse and telling a woman she has less value to Jesus than her abuser.
So please for her sake, and yours, Repent.
I watched a twitter feed as men spewed out careless words for women to be silent in the church and I see Christ soon turning tables on this type of lordship. His heart was always for the uniting of men and women to lead people to Christ together. It began in Genesis. There will never be a moment when I stand before Him ashamed because I encouraged, preached, or tended the hearts of the sheep…. even if that sheep is a man.
I see “Christians” throwing stones the size of boulders that is nothing more than spiritual bullying and I wonder when was the last time they sat with a broken person who was the target of their stones. Did you know they pondered suicide? Did you know you sent them into a dark and deep depression? Did you know their family almost fell apart as they picked up the pieces shattered by your stones? While you were wielding those scriptures with no heart of Christ at all, Christ saw you murder your brother. You aborted their life in Jesus. They have spent years recovering in the wilderness while your life went on with little to no thought about it.
So if there is any compassion of Jesus in you, Repent.
I see the same spirit of pride and arrogance that caused Satan to be cast out of Heaven; A demand to “Worship me!” Woe to the church that places its authority over the Headship of Christ!!! Every member is a royal priest and there is no need for an intermediary. Christ has fulfilled that role.
I cannot bear what I see any longer! Repent! The Kingdom is nigh! Leave your gifts on that altar! Your solemn assemblies do not please Him!
You worship Him with your lips but your heart is far from Him! You wield the word the same as Satan! There is a divine consequence! Christ will rise and fight on behalf of those being cut down by the misuse of the sword! He will rise against every tongue that comes against His called people! You are about to hear the Lion roar!
Repent! Repent! Repent!
…and just as Nathan was sent to David with the story of a sinful occasion to which he refused to see, I come to tell you, church, it is YOU!
Repent:
: To turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one’s life
: To feel regret or contrition
: To change one’s mind
