One’s heart must be open to giving. At a moment’s notice, Christ will call you to bless His people. If you stay focused on your own needs, you may miss out on the voice of God.
Yesterday a sweet friend brought me some precious gift bags. I could have thanked her kindly and went about my day but I know the heart of Christ.
He had something on His heart. Someone on His heart. His eyes are still on the sparrows. I quickly went to prayer to ask Him where He wanted those gift bags to go, to whom they should go, and what were we to place within them?
Can He get through to our hearts in a moment’s notice to drop all we desire and follow Him and His desire? Can He trust us to be givers, or are we always takers?
Walking around our building this morning I began to sing a new song that went like this:
Lord, help me bless your people
Lord help me bless your people
Because I know
Your great love for them.
Lord help me bless your people
Lord help me bless your people
Because I know
Your great love for them.
Lately, my heart has been turned back to the simplicity of giving. Giving what I have. Giving what I’ve learned. Giving when He calls.
There is something beautiful that a small gift does. It has the power of Christ to open a heart.
It has the ability to show Him to others who may shy away from our preaching.
It has a way of touching a soul and letting them know they are seen.
At the end of the day, He is the greatest gift we can give another heart.
What do you have, today, that you can give others that might lead them to him and let them know how much they are loved and seen?
The life of Jesus is lived for the sake of others.
