The Road Home

The Road Home

The Road Home

I long for a land full of evergreens

Trees with branches begging a swing

Twirling and twirling with Jesus, My King

Pure, lovely, and admirable things.

In a world that’s getting darker by day

Drawing our eyes in sinister ways

A choice by men must now be made

To guard our hearts in child-like ways.

Remember as kids the imaginary scenes

Where nothing’s impossible, or so it seemed

I’ve found the secret to a beautiful world

A heavenly place for this little girl.

It’s lush and full of flowering fields

I close my eyes and sit with Him

Blocking the world from my eyes gaze

Christ lets me see His loveliest ways.

I’m done with sin that wrecks my heart

Makes me mad, divides, and parts

Pulling my heart in ravaging ways

Christ is what, and who, I crave.

I love the safety of His embrace

And in His arms are no evil tastes

For all is sweet and pure to see

He’ll fill your heart with beautiful things.

I long for streams that ripple well

An image of the Christ that softly tells

This heart of mine that I belong

The cross before me, the world long gone.

To each will come a fork in the road

You’ll have to decide which road to go

But let me tell you what I’ve come to know

Christ is the only road leading me home.
