Baptism of the Spirit -a personal testimony-

I remember years ago coming out of the deepest valley I had ever known. I was sitting in my secret place upset with the Lord.

He had put words in front of me that went against all I had been taught or had ever known. I knew few would be in agreement with the calling that was going out upon my life.

I told no one.

Frustrated because the Lord was upending my comfort, my stability, and my environment I cried out, “I will not do it unless you send me the power I read about in the Book of Acts.”

I then grabbed my prayer mantle, walked out to my saltwater swimming pool and struck the water with it, “Where is the God is Elijah.” I literally walked myself through the same scripture moments as Elisha.

Nothing happened.

I stood up and went back inside in tears.

I knew everything was changing in my life and nothing would ever be the same again. I was already grieving it as a loss.

A few days later I became exhausted and thought, “I’ve got to lay down.”

As I tried to nap a deep cry came from a place I could never point to with my human hand because it was coming from such a deep place, then suddenly something utterly miraculous happened.

The Holy Spirit had come into my room and I could feel fire from head to toe.

Then I realized I was uttering a language I did not know.

I remember thinking in my mind “This must be what Mary felt when the Holy Spirit came upon her.”

I was recalling all the scriptures I suddenly understood that I never could before and this bathing of the Holy Spirit lasted for quite some time.

For two days it happened every time I laid down to rest.

It was nothing like I had envisioned. Not a single thing scary about it.

The Holy Spirit was very gentle with me and confirming clearly my call from God.

He had done what I had asked.

In the days following there came poetry and prophetic songs I never knew possible and a language that we shared intimately.

Seeing the scriptures come to life put to rest many questions that you simply are unable to understand without experience.

Don’t let people talk you out of experience with Jesus. One must often have the experience to then understand certain scriptures. Many preach scripture with no experience of it. Therefore, we preach and pray amiss.

I share all of this so you may know that:
  • He still comes upon us with power today.
  • He still pours out new languages that will build up your most holy faith and also edify the body.
  • He still sends out “calls” that no one may affirm but He will confirm.

Do not let anyone tell you that it all died with the apostles in the Bible.

The Holy Spirit is as much God as the Father and Son. And He is alive and active today.

We are all disciples of Christ and He is still the same yesterday, today, and forever.

1 Corinthians 14:1

Pursue [this] love [with eagerness, make it your goal], yet earnestly desire and cultivate the spiritual gifts [to be used by believers for the benefit of the church]…

Matthew 3:11I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
