In prayer this morning I had a phrase pass through my heart, “warring against God.”
I had a sense that some are following another voice and agenda.
You don’t have to be opposed to God to come up against Him. All it takes is a misalignment, a heart hardened against His will, or a refusal to go His way in your life.
We blame a lot on the devil but much of our warring is against God.
We wrestle as if we can win. As if we get to call the shots. As if this life is about us rather than about Him.
We deny what He is doing in our lives when we prefer another path or another method.
We dismiss how He provides for us or take what He’s given and misuse it for our own heart desires and benefits.
Our little hearts are running a game on God…as if He doesn’t know it.
We spin the narrative to one that suits us rather than bowing to His plan.
He has a way of unfolding His plan. Sometimes it’s sudden and other times it’s systematically given.
We will reject what we don’t want. But grab hold of what the devil sends.
That devil knows what you desire and he will keep feeding your flesh. In essence, you bow to him.
“I’ll give you the kingdoms…”
Yet one day we see calamity and destruction, loss and malnutrition of our lives and ministries. The devil lied to us and we lied to ourselves.
God’s plan was full of righteousness, truth, and His plan would love well many people.
Our plan serves ourselves. Our overindulgence to comfort. Our desires for the future.
We are found warring against God.
Now we’re tired. Impoverished. Delinquent of the power and presence of God.
We left behind us broken relationships, broken dreams, and broken hearts.
All because we wanted what we wanted instead of what God wanted.
We stand in the middle of a mound of rubble.
Desolation.
Destruction.
Despair.
All because we warred against God.
Listen…
It’s not worth it.
Pro 14:12 – There is a way which seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of death.
