The Prophet with a Pen

The Prophet with a Pen

The Prophet with a Pen

There’s a prophet with a pen

Who God calls with His wind

To nourish hearts in need

Who hide their pain and grief.

Heaven’s vault of words with weight

That describes well inward hate

And opens up flood gates

So healing can take place.

If I was given choice

I’d choose “Easy” of course

But Jesus knew in me

A heart that would tend sheep.

Some days I wish away

The calling He has made

Knowing that some days

I’d have to endure pain.

For when the message swells

And I do go through Hell

I know there’s been a need

That Jesus soon sends me.

What if I dared say, “No”

When His flowers need to grow

No follower I would be

But a preacher of grace that’s cheap.

I promised Him my “Yes.”

Sealed with His royal crest

Wherever is the need in men

I’ll be His prophet with a pen.
